Tyler Logan did an exceptional job during the AIRE Level 1 course. He blended the course curriculum with the realities of backcountry travel and conditions. Once the concepts were understood, he allowed our group to apply them ourselves. This teaching approach was very effective. I took an AIARE Level 1 + Rescue course with guide Tyler Logan this past weekend. It was an absolutely incredible experience. Tyler is an amazing teacher, facilitator, and guide. He led our group through the rescue day and two days of avalanche training with professionalism and a strong sense of attention to each student and their absorption of the learning material. He would go in-depth on important topics as they came up or as the group experienced them in the snow — providing an amazing chance to see and observe how what he was teaching had an impact right then and there. The AIARE framework is based on safety and preparation and this was very apparent in Tyler’s preparation for each day of the course. I came out of the course feeling confident in my ability to conduct an avalanche rescue and in my ability to plan a safe and fun ski tour taking into account the conditions, forecast, group members, and so much more. –Philip Faris
