Guided Backcountry Skiing
The most important things to look for in a backcountry skiing guide are the highest level of formal avalanche training possible as well as loads of experience skiing in their operating region. I have both of these things to offer you and I would be happy to get out with you for a great day in the mountains. The Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, and Virginia Lakes zones usually have the best conditions, and this is where I’m heading at least 90% of the time.
I have completed ski guide training with the American Mountain Guides Association as well as ski instructor training at Mammoth Mountain, and I lead AIARE avalanche classes regularly during the winter season. Prior to heading out on a ski tour, I will give you an overview of the avalanche advisory for the day and explain the mindset I have for our route options.
